Calling All Paddlers
The paddlers group is for 3 and 4 year olds who are not physically ready to make it across a lane on their own. It can also be for those 5 year olds who are not quite ready to participate in a meet. Our goal is to have each paddler swim in the last meet of the season, if they are willing and ready! Contact Bonnie Dupre for more information on the Paddlers group.
Heather has been around the sport of swimming most of her life, swimming for clubs in New Hampshire and then Virginia. She started giving swim lessons at the age of 16 and taught swim lessons at the Chesapeake YMCA for 6 years. She has worked with the VBTCC swim club coaching the 6 and unders as well as an assistant age group coach with Tide swimming for 4 years.
Heather graduated from Old Dominion University and is a special education teacher at Ocean Lakes High School. Prior to working at Ocean Lakes she also spent many years working at Cox High School in the main office and coaching the dance team. Heather has two daughters, Taylor and Kayla and in her free time she enjoys spending time with her girls and her husband, Gary. They all enjoy going to the beach and attending ODU football games! This is her third year coaching at CGYC and is excited to lead the team. Her philosophy regarding summer swim is to have fun, learn proper stroke technique and most importantly develop a life long love for swimming!
