History
Created to serve the recreational needs of guests of the Cavalier Hotel, the course and grounds known as The Cavalier Country Club opened in 1929, and over the years was the site selected for a number of LPGA, PGA, VSGA and Mid-Atlantic tournaments, including the Virginia Beach Open. Walter Hagan served as our honorary Chairman and touring Pro in the 1950s. Here are just a few of the many heralded golfers that have competed here at the Cavalier.

Cavalier in US History Fact
During World War II, the 15th fairway was home to an anti-aircraft battery,
while the Clubhouse was opened for officers serving in the area.
